Shady Grove Adventist Hospital (SGAH)

Over the past quarter-century, Shady Grove has grown to meet the constantly evolving health care needs of the community. Today, this 275-bed acute care hospital serves as a primary health care resource for more than 250,000 local residents. Shady Grove employs nearly 2,000 people, has a medical staff of over 1,000 physicians and is part of the Adventist HealthCare system.

Germantown Emergency Center (GEC)

Built from the ground up to take advantage of the latest medical technology, the new Shady Grove Adventist Emergency Care Center at Germantown is the first freestanding emergency department in the state of Maryland and has treated thousands of patients since its grand opening in August 2006.

MEP at SGAH and GEC

Combined, the hospital and emergency center offer a main ED, a Fast Track, a pediatric ED, and a psychiatric ED.

The MEP provides care for over 70,000 patients at SGAH and about 30,000 patients at GEC annually.

Lifestyle

Rockville and Germantown are both in great locations just half an hour from Washington, DC, and about two hours from the Chesapeake Bay to the east and the Appalachian Mountains to the west. Residents enjoy quick access to many nationally renowned cultural and entertainment attractions in addition to the beautiful rolling countryside of southern Maryland.

School System

Rockville and Germantown are part of the Montgomery County School System (MCPS), which is consistently ranked as one of the best in the nation. In 2008, MCPS was the only district in the United States to have six high schools listed among Newsweek magazine’s top 100. MCPS also has one of the highest graduation rates, with students who score among the highest in the United States on Advanced Placement examinations. In addition, the area features premier private schools.
