The Washington County Hospital is a not-for-profit acute care hospital located in Hagerstown, Maryland, and serves the residents of western Maryland, southern Pennsylvania, and the panhandle of West Virginia. The hospital offers acute general inpatient services in addition to a regional Level III Trauma Center, an intensive care unit, a progressive care unit, a coronary care unit, and a pediatric unit.
The hospital has grown since it first opened in 1905 with 10 beds and a staff of 18. Today, WCH is a 292-bed regional medical center serving approximately 400,000 people and is part of the Washington County Health System.
A new hospital and emergency department—one of the biggest medical campuses on the East Coast—is currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2010.
Washington County Hospital has a main ED and a Fast Track shift staffed by physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
The MEP team provides care for over 65,000 patients annually.
