Memorial Hospital and Medical Center of Cumberland and Braddock Hospital joined in 1996 to form Western Maryland Health System (WMHS). This new organization offers a comprehensive range of general and specialty services for medical, surgical, pediatric, and obstetrical patients.
In November, 2009, WMHS opened a new facility combining the two campuses as the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center (WMRMC). WMRMC is a 275-bed facility serving as the designated area-wide trauma center in the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS).
Sophisticated diagnostic testing services and state-of-the-art procedures are now available in one centralized location that is convenient to everyone in the tri-state area. The new facility enables the Western Maryland Health System to continue to provide a level of care that patients once had to travel to Baltimore, Washington D.C., or Pittsburgh to receive.
Western Maryland Regional Medical Center (WMRMC) features a state-of-the-art ED with 48 private beds, including 4 trauma suites and a dedicated 12-bed Fast Track area.
The MEP team provides care for over 55,000 patients annually.
